Kiss My Face for Kids

Always on the lookout for natural, chemical-free products for myself and the kids I was pleased when Kiss My Face sent me a box loaded with a few of their kids line products- A Whale of a Soap, Self Foaming Shampoo & Body Wash and Self Foaming Hand Wash.

The Kiss My Face Self Foaming Hand Wash ($7.95) is already a favorite in our house. I buy it for their bathroom as it is very easy to pump out the soap in a puff of foam.  This is great for little ones just learning to wash their hands during potty training as well as older kids.  The soap is light and airy but cleans thoroughly and the wide pump fits their hands.  Both my two year-old and five year-old love it.  The Berry Smart scent also entices and they have a tendency to do a little too much hand washing at times. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

A Whale of a Soap ($7.95, two bars) is comprised of vegetable glycerin and comes in a white scentless version or orange u smart whales.  Each box contains two whale bars of soap that are also chemical free.  This soap is fun and the kids want to use it all the time.  Even when they just see the box they get excited for a chance to use a new whale in the tub or shower to play and clean up.  I like how it doesn't dry their skin and has moisturizing properties from palm kernels.

Self Foaming Shampoo & Body Wash ($8.95) comes in scentless, orange u smart and berry smart scents.  It is another fun product from Kiss My Face for Kids.  My girls have a blast squeezing the bottle to get the foaming soap out and love piling up the suds on their kneecaps, heads, shoulders and tub while they clean themselves at bath time.  I wish it didn't go so fast though because at $8.95 a bottle it doesn't take long for this shampoo (tear-free!) to disappear and I am not fond of the price.

Kiss My Face is a great company.  I am a huge fan of their shave cream and many of their other products for the whole family.  We use their kids toothpaste as well.  They have a wide array of products from oral care, sun care,  hair care and more.  You can find them online at Kiss My Face, Drugstore.com and at many drug and grocery stores nationwide.

La Falaise French Organic Soap

Using th earth's finest ingredients La Falaise organic soap is genuinely French, therapeutic and luxurious.  Whether you are purchasing their bath salts, soaps or shower gels you can be sure that no harsh chemicals were used, no animals were harmed and no culture was exploited while creating and packaging these products.

The La Falaise Pink Clay and Cameline shower gel and bar soap were sent to me to test.  The minimal packaging is bright pink and recyclable.  Camiline is an essential oil used in both products and it is a great anti-inflammatory and Vitamin E source. Pink Clay is good for softening skin and gentle cleansing which makes it a wonderful soap or shower gel for relieving tired skin or protecting sensitive skin.  The soaps rinse well and don't dry your skin either.  I found both to be quite soothing and not overly perfumed. In fact, the soft rose and geranium scent is so light it simply floats in the steamy shower air momentarily and then dissipates without leaving a cloying scent behind.  So often rose-scented bath products end up smelling powdery and old as well as quite heavy but not La Falaise.  The only problem I encountered was that I had a hard time opening the shower gel bottle.  I would advise removing the plastic tab before entering the shower.  It took me quite a few tries while in the shower to remove it.  Both products are gentle and relaxing to use though and this makes them perfect for moms and babies.  As a gift set, which La Falaise offers, it is a good go-to gift item for a baby shower or for a new mother.

La Falaise has an entire line of soaps, salts and shower gels in a variety of scents.  All of them are 100% natural and guaranteed to please.  There is a full gift set line and items that can be bundled together too.  La Falaise products can be purchased online or by catalog.

Wembe Amazonian Soul Soaps

Striving to create a greener world, Wembe meaning "a name given by a GuaranĂ tribe to a tropical plant considered as the Amazon's rare jewels", is 100% organic and eco-friendly.  Believing in the benefits of nature Wembe uses natural essences from the Amazon to help detoxify, moisturize and create relaxtion when you use their products.

The Green Blue River Exfoliating Blend ($9.75) bar is 3.75 ounces made up of vegetable oils, washed sand, vegetable clay and vegetable dyes. This buffing bar is full of essential oils that work wonderfully on tired feet.  Since I've become pregnant with my third child I have had the hardest time keeping up with my pedicures and foot exfoliation.  It is just one of those things that has fallen by the wayside.  This winter has been incredibly dry and my feet have become so rough that they now stick to my socks.  It's awful.  The first time I used Wembe's Green Blue River Exfoliating Blend bar it was in the shower. I found it easy to use and very efficient.  The washed sand is at the end of the bar and it really works.  I scrubbed my feet in minutes and was done.  Afterwards my socks just slid over my feet!  Using it again a few days later took all the calluses off my heels.  Each time I use it my feet become softer without any drying.  I would never have thought to exfoliate my feet in the shower.  Scrubs don't work as they wash off but the Green Blue River Exfoliating Blend has become the perfect solution to my problem.

Wembe has a minimum three bar purchase on their website but you can purchase Wembe soaps at Uncommon Goods too.  Wembe has a wide array of other fine soaps including a Mango Cleansing Blend and other facial bars for your individual cleansing needs.

Lend A Hand Soap by Mario Russo

Lightly scented in chamomile and olive oil, Mario Russo's Lend a Hand Soap ($15.50) is gentle and effective. Coming in at 8 fluid ounces in a handy pump bottle this soap is unique looking. It is not quite pink but also almost a light brown color. When it pumps out though it is clear, lathers easily and rinses well. It definetly is gentle too because it doesn't dry out my hands no matter how often I use it through out the day. It is a nice hand soap to have by a bathroom or kitchen sink.

Having grown up in Italy and seeing his grandmother use olive oil in a variety of ways from skin ailments to cure-alls Russo decided to develop a line of products based around this skin softening olive for his salons. Having only used the Lend A Hand soap I cannot say how the other products work, but the hand soap does what is is supposed to, which is clean your hands. It did not wow me, but I did like how it was not overly scented and light in texture. It really does feel gentle and goes with the Lend a Hand lotion. While it looks like a green product, it is not one which disappointed me.

Lend a Hand hand soap comes in 8 oz and 2 oz sizes. A portion of the proceeds goes to charity though which one I not sure of as the bottle and the website do not say.

Delicious All Natural Soaps- It's Suzanne Graham For You!

Forever on a quest to find natural soaps that do not crumble or fade, when placed in my shower (sorry Lush) I was pleased to try Suzanne Graham For You. Suzanne has been creating treats and goodies in her kitchen as far back as she can remember but it was not until one Christmas that she decided to try her hand at soap making. It was a success and soon she was selling her hand-made, all natural soaps in markets and artisan shows. Now she makes Suzanne Graham soaps in liquid and bar form full time. I think she made the right decision too.

I tried four soaps from the collection, Ki-Lime, Banana Baby, Mint Salad and the Lavender Butter. They arrived at my house (from Canada) quickly and in a tiny little box. Minimal packaging is used and I love that. The less waste there is the better! The four blocks of soap were compactly packed and I found I had to separate them quickly because the Mint Salad was overpowering the other three bars lighter scents. Within a day though they were all back to normal and each scent was fresh and appealing.

The Ki-Lime bar is definitely tangy and the kiwi seeds provide a bit of exfoliating action while you wash. The bars lather incredibly well for a natural soap and stand up to the onslaught of water from the showerhead too. They have not turned into a goopy mess over time. My bathroom is permeated with the fresh summery scent of the Ki-Lime and it is delicious!

I can say the same for the softly scented Banana Baby bar. The all-natural ingredients in this soap do not leave that cloyingly sweet and yet sick smelling scent of banana. It is just a ripe slightly green banana scent. I use it on my daughter when she showers with me and it has not caused any problems as she has very sensitive skin. None of the soaps has created any reactions, which is remarkable. The oatmeal, milk and organic bananas in this soap create a rich lather from this mild cleanser that I would recommend to anyone with kids in the house.

While not my most favorite, there is something to be said for the Mint Salad. It has a stronger more pervasive scent than the other bars but it also really wakes you up each time you use it. It is not medicinal or antiseptic smelling either. It contains spinach for vitamins, cucumber to cleanse and that awesome minty freshness too. I think it would work well as a post-workout soap and have used it as such myself.

The fourth bar, the Lavender Butter, is mild and soft. It has super rich emollients like Shea, kokum butter and mango mixed in it that leave your skin incredibly supple and smooth. It is the most luxuriant of the soaps that I tried and the pleasant lavender scent is one that I am always partial too. I love this soap possibly more than the Ki-Lime, simply because it is so smooth.

Suzanne Graham soaps are a great winter pick me up if you are fighting the winter blahs and they make a wonderful treat or gift for a friend or co-worker too. All the natural ingredients are listed right there with each soap. There is a liquid soap for hands and it works great for shaving! Check out all of Suzanne Graham’s products here. What is even better is that these great soaps are now part of the Compact for Safe Cosmetics. That earns a gold star of approval in my book!
