Tips for Getting Product Reviews on Your Blog

Spend any time at all immersed in the blog world and you’ll begin to notice that some bloggers get to review different products from time to time, and some bloggers to get to review different products all the time and some bloggers get to review products none of the time. And yet, you’ve never been offered a chance to review any products. Why is that? How come some bloggers have so many different opportunities to review products and some have none at all?

1.      Make your contact information easy to find

Companies are constantly perusing the web to find different places to promote their products. However, if they can’t find any way to get in touch with you, they’ll never reach out to you to try their products, which is why it’s imperative to have a Contact tab on your blog that gives a valid email address and explains that you’re open to discussing honest product reviews.

2.      Reach out to companies you’re interested in promoting

If there’s a particular company or product that you really believe in and want to promote you should email their marketing person and ask them about coordinating a review or sponsoring a giveaway on your blog. You don’t have to wait for someone to find your blog, and a lot of companies are more than happy to work with bloggers and get some additional exposure.

3.      Join a blogging network

There are a lot of different blogging networks out there that will partner with you to create a mutually beneficial relationship – they’ll place specific ads on your website and in turn will promote you as well. A lot of companies find blogs to utilize for product promotions through these types of networks.

4.      Review products on your own

If there’s something you’re passionate about – whether it’s in a positive or negative light – review it on your blog! This will help show others that you’re the type of blogger that does open and honest reviews, both of which are qualities that companies appreciate. No one wants to read glowing reviews all of the time, they want to read truthful reviews. This will also show marketers that your blog is a place for credible information and good exposure.

5.      Use social media to your advantage

Promote, promote, promote. Promote your blog, promote any reviews you’re doing, link to companies on Twitter, tag companies on Facebook – do whatever you have to do in terms of social media promotion to get people’s attention. Social media is a free and easy resource to connect with others, so use it!

It might be a little intimidating at first to contact a company, but most are more than willing to at least talk to you about sponsoring a review, and once you have one it becomes easier for other companies to find you and utilize you. Reviewing products is fun and informative, and readers love unbiased opinions on products. If someone knows they can count on you to give a candid review of something, even if it’s not necessarily the most glowing review, you immediately become a credible source of information and will become more and more likely to be contacted for product reviews on your blog.

Rock 'N' Learn Educational DVD

For over 23 years Rock 'N' Learn has been creating great musical and educational videos and DVDs for kids.  Their latest creation is Phonics volume I & II ($19.99 each).  Here's a little bit about the two volumes (Volume I deals with short vowel sounds, consonants and phonic awareness while Volume II sets the scene for long vowels, syllables, rule breakers and combining consonants.)

"Rock ‘N Learn Phonics DVD and audio CD programs provide an easy and fun way to learn the phonics skills that lead to reading and spelling success. Catchy songs and rhymes help students remember basic phonics rules, vowels, consonants, blends, digraphs, silent e, and much more. Delayed answers and the on-screen mouth (Phonics videos) allow learners to check their progress and use these programs independently. Our new Phonics Volume 1 and Phonics Volume 2 DVDs have been improved in two ways: much better animation and a lot more content to help students become confident readers. Students practice reading sentences and stories to apply the rules they have learned. These phonics video programs now have fun characters, sentence practice, read-along stories, and exercises to boost fluency."

As soon as I popped in the first DVD, Phonics Volume I, my four year-old daughter came running over to see what the music was all about.  She is in her last year of preschool and even though the year has just begun I want to start getting her ready for kindergarten.  This DVD brings phonics to life for her.  Learning phonics is the backbone to reading and spelling.  I remember it was also my favorite class when I was in school.  The animation is bright, lively and fun. The music grabs a kids attention and holds on to it as it continuously changes and flows from one sound structure to the next.  Geared for ages six and up and 70 minutes long it was advanced for my child but she enjoyed watching it and held onto some of the information quickly.  It is a start and one that we will keep practicing in addition to the workbooks we already have on hand Rock 'N' Learn Phonics gives us a balanced start that I highly recommend.

Rock 'N' Learn Phonics Volume I & II and other R'n'L DVDs are available online and at Barnes & Noble's nationwide.  Math skills, science, language and more are also available in this fine collection.

Rosetta Stone Lanuage Learning System

The Rosetta Stone Language Learning System is everywhere. You see the commercials on TV, the ads in magazines and chances are your local mall has a Rosetta Stone kiosk in it. Am I right? They make it sound so easy to learn another language. I tested the French version of Rosetta Stone and found the following.

Rosetta Stone uses the technique of Dynamic Immersion, which is the process of using images, intuition, interactivity, instruction and immersion to learn a language. My high school French teacher always said that immersion was the best way to learn a language. Each time I went to Quebec or France I have found this to be true. When you hear nothing else but that language all around you your brain begins to process and decipher it like it is cracking a code. After a while, you can understand key parts to conversations and sentences and work from there. Hearing the native tongue correctly pronounce the words is also key to learning the Rosetta way.

Each language set (there are more than 30 languages to choose from) comes with a headset with a microphone, levels 1, 2, and 3 of the interactive software, and an Audio Companion for a CD or MP3 player ($539). All of these items combined together help you build a solid foundation of the core vocabulary for that particular language. Once you have those fundamentals and structure in place, you can interact with others in that language. Rosetta Stone is great product for anyone who wants to learn a new language for business purposes, travel or for furthering their education.

I found that it really is intuitive learning. By using images, seeing the words and hearing the native tongue I was able to correctly identify the pictures with the words quite fast. I surprised even myself. Especially since they were words, I did not already know. Despite stumbling at some points, I wanted to continue because this Dynamic Immersion technique was really working. I could not wait to learn more.

The Rosetta Stone Language Learning System is a bit steep in price. Purchasing a package makes it cheaper, but you might want to tell yourself that you are investing in furthering your education or have this as a job write-off to soften the blow to your wallet. You get what you pay for though and after using many other language-learning systems, I have found that Rosetta Stone is the only one that shows results as fast or ones that acutally stick. Test drive it yourself right here.
