Book Review- Elizabeth Pantley's - The No-Cry Nap Solution

Bestselling author of The No-Cry Sleep Solution, Elizabeth Pantley has created another gem of a book in 'The No-Cry Nap Solution'. For us this book could not have come at a better time. We have a ten week-old baby and unlike our first child this one does not like to nap. Pantley's book has been a lifesaver!

Normally, I hate to read parenting books because I often prickle at the 'this is the only real right way' type of advice but Elizabeth does not operate that way. She fully allows and accepts that each child and family is different and everyone must find their own middle ground. She is fond of finding a nap schedule and that does work for my household but it has to be one that works for you and your child too. Inside this book there are numerous ways to deal with almost every possible no-nap problems including nap strikes, travel and growth spurts. I love that I can use this book as a reference guide to solving my ever changing infant's nap schedule but my toddlers as well. While it takes a bit of time, patience and perseverance on the parents part it has been worth it.

I did the nap log for a week just like the book illustrates and it really helped me find a pattern to our little ones naps. Once I figured that out I found I could easily tackle all the smaller problems we were encountering. We now have a more well-rested baby on our hands. She is even sleeping through the night and taking three to four naps a day. I have used each bit of advice on soothing and lengthening her naps and its really worked. Elizabeth knows her stuff! The best part is that all of it was done without fuss from our baby. It is all about looking for cues from your child, focusing and paying attention even when you don't think you have the time to do so. In my sleep deprived state and with a toddler on my hands I needed this book bad. I wish I could give Elizabeth a big hug for bringing some sanity back into our home! If you have a child that naps only in a sling, swing or your arms. You should read this book! If your baby is fussy or has fits due to lack of sleep, takes short naps or none at all. This book is for you! I could go on but you get this idea.

I love this book and I can't wait to read Elizabeth's other no-cry solution books in the future. I'm also going to start giving this book as gifts to new parents as it really does work wonders in a quiet, easy-going but deliberate manner that I think would work beautifully with any family.

Elizabeth Pantley's 'The No-Cry Nap Solution' ($10.85-15.95) can be purchased at Amazon.
