Ergonomically designed with mother and child's supreme comfort in mind, the ERGObaby carrier is a tried and tested and Parenting magazine approved front, back and hip carrier. When researching carriers for myself these past few months I could not seem to find one that was actually going to be comfortable to use and carry our newest addition in. After doing independent research and consulting friends I found that we were beyond the bjorn and into a new realm with the ERGObaby.
Created by Karin Frost who also needed freedom of movement, lumbar support, a high quality carrier and one that is light and comfortable to wear, not straining (ahem, other baby carriers!) she designed the ERGObaby carrier. Coming complete with an infant insert (think of the baby wrapped up like a taco) and able to support a toddler age child this carrier is worth the money. It's easy to breast feed with this carrier and supports the baby's spine and hips when they are seated. There is even a hood to support a sleeping infant's head or shield it from the sun. It also packs easily too.
Here is what I personally love about the ERGObaby carrier. With my first child I tried out slings and other carriers to no avail. While she might not have minded each type, I certainly did. After mere minutes I found myself completely uncomfortable or fearing that she was going to be knocked around too much. Taking a walk with the baby facing front or back or on my side was agony. I soon began to hurt all over. However, the ERGObaby carrier with its 100% cotton batting body and soft edges really supports me and not just the baby. The neoprene foam waist belt, reinforced stitching and high-density foam adjustable shoulder straps all combine together to make this carrier simply the best model I have found to date. You can wear it for a long time and not have the back and hip pains you might with other carriers. The front pocket is great for keys, pacifiers and other little items you need to hold onto too. My only finding was that babies cannot face out like some carriers allow. This can pose a problem for those little tots who like to see the world once they are a bit older. Your only option is to wear the carrier on your side or on your back.
At $105 this might seem like a big investment for baby gear but here is the thing. It lasts. It's made of the highest quality with a company that has customer service and personal attention to their products to match. Unlike other carriers that only go to 30 or 40 lbs the ERGObaby carrier can even hold your toddler which is great for hikes and long days out. There are quite a few accessories that go with the ERGObaby line too. Check them all out here. This carrier is worth the money!
You can purchase the ERGObaby carrier and the whole line of products and accessories online at the website or by searching here for a store near you.

I've heard GREAT things about ERGOs. I know I loved using a carrier/sling/whatever you want to call it. It was so convenient and nurturing.
I LOVE my Ergo. Best thing I purchased after my daughter was born. She is 15 mos and I still use it to vacuum etc, she thinks its funny and its so much less stress on my back than the Baby Bjorn.
Oops, I forgot to leave my email. :)

Thanks for doing these reviews! You are awesome!
I had a baby bjorn, but I would try the Ergo if I were to have another baby.
Sounds great. I had a cheaper brand which tried to function the same, but felt uncomfortable to me. Maybe the expense of the ERGO really shows the quality.

hi there! have to say i wasn't such a big baby carrier user - probably because i have twins and it was impossible to get around without a stroller when they were little. i hear you on the big grl beds - we just bought two over the weekend! my kids are busting out of their toddler beds.
thanks for entering me to win the dvds!
I've also heard this was the "best one" out there! My friend in MN has one and loves it! Sounds like a back saver - great review!
I love the ergo. I am still carrying my daughter in the front at 20.5 lbs. Molly also loves being on my back. I love your site. Melissa
I really did NOT like the Ergo Baby Carrier. The fabric is very rough and the Velcro sticks to your clothes. I have tried a lot of carriers (mostly used, hand-me-downs), and the Ergo comes far down on the list. A couple of real comfortable ones are the Belle Carrier and the lillebaby EveryWear.
I too love Ergo baby carriers..they are extremely comfortable..found a perfect solution for my baby..
