Neutrogena Triple Protect Face Lotion for Men

In the last few years we've seen an uptick in the amount of men's skincare products on the market. I think it is a great thing and Neutrogena is one of the best bets out there. It's available all over, it is inexpensive and the packaging won't put off even the most adverse man. It is also gym bag, toiletry bag and TSA friendly.

Neutrogena Triple Protect Face Lotion with SPF 20 ($6.99) soothes razor irritation while moisturizing and protecting skin from the elements. It has a light fragrance that starts off stronger and then dissipates. I liked it on my husband. It wasn't too much of anything like a musk, woodsy or citrus scent. Just a nice, clean mix. His skin felt smoother to the touch and looked and felt softer too. There was less irritation with each use as well. The UVB/UVA protection help protect skin from sun damage but also aging. It's a win-win. I'm told that it feels good, doesn't sting the eyes when my husband sweats and overall is a good product that works without any hassles.

Sunbow Sunscreen

There are two universal truths when it comes to parenting. One, kids love any product with a cartoon or toy character on it. Two, kids hate having sunscreen put on them. Sunbow sunscreen products have merged these two ideas together and created a line of sunscreens that kids actually want to use. Trust me, when I pulled out the pink bottle of sunscreen with Dora the Explorer on the label my girls immediately asked for some. The idea of pink (or yellow with Sponge Bob) sunscreen is ingenious. The fact that is also smells like yummy bubble gum just takes it a step further into the irresistible to kids category.

Sunbow sunscreens ($12.99, 5 fl.oz) are water resistant, paba-free, made in the USA and won't stain your clothes. All that I can attest to. It also goes on in color and dries clear, much to my five year-old's disappointment. She wanted to be covered in the pink stuff. It is made of a safe zinc oxide formula and goes on easily. The consistency isn't too thick and hard to spread nor is it watery. However, after using it for repeated pool, spray park and outdoor play time adventures I noticed one thing. My kids were getting way more tan than I liked. Sunbow offers SPF 30 full spectrum coverage but my kids were getting darker and red despite repeated applications. They never burned but I felt more protection was needed. Maybe it is just me though.

Sunbow Sunscreens (Dora and Spongebob varieties) are available online.

MPR Rating: Three Stars.

Dr. T's Supergoop!

As a family of five we go through sunscreen fast. Three of those five people are kids and it is hard to pin them down sometimes to get that sunscreen on them. Supergoop by Dr. T is great for every day use and when you need it most- the pool, beach or anything outdoors. It's SPF 30 plus UV protection that really works and lasts.

We tried the spray, the lip balm and the swipes (box of 21, $34) and found all of them to be fantastic! My husband didn't believe the swipes would work well but he used one for his face, neck and torso while he worked outside in our yard. He sweat, got wet and grimey. Did he burn? Nope, not even a bit. He was amazed and didn't say a word about the wipes ever again. The swipes make putting sunscreen on kids easy too.

I love the Mint Fustion lip balm ($8.50) because it not only contains the SPF 30 but it has a nice, absorbent glossiness to it that doesn't stick. It glides on, stays put and protects without having any funny scent or taste to it. It is just minty fresh without being overpowering.

The SPF 30 Everyday Spray ($19.50) is great too. It goes on white and spreads well without a tacky, sticky texture that makes some sunscreens hard to rub in. When I wear it I don't worry about the suns harmful rays because this waterproof formula stays put and protects me so well. I don't break out with it and I don't have that strange texture to my skin after a day of wearing it out in the sun. It is perfect for wearing while playing sports outside too. I use it when I run and it really keeps my skin safe.

Supergoop! products can be found at Sephora stores nationwide, Nordstrom and online. It's a bit on the expensive side but it works wonderfully!

MPR Rating: Four Stars (would be five except for the price).
