Hilton Hotel Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY

Hilton Hotels have been around for ages. They are in every city around the world. The Hilton located on the Avenue of the Americas in New York City is right on the corner and located close to 30 Rockefeller Plaza and Radio City Music Hall making it an ideal place to stay if you are in the city for the first time.

Upon checking in I was put in one room with two double beds for one night and then moved to another room (double beds) the next few nights. That was my own doing and I found that one side of the hotel is greatly different than the other side. One side was a taste of old New York in style. The room was a good size for NYC standards and had elegant gold walls and mahagony furniture. It was clean and well-kept. The next few days were spent in a more modern, newly redone portion of the hotel. Cool tones and dark wood were showcased here with an ultra-white bathroom.

What I liked about this hotel was its close proximity to all the classic places you might visit on a trip to the city. The staff was helpful and the hotel offers a bar and lobby lounge and a buffet style restaurant as well as a fine dining restaurant, Starbucks and room service. I found the room service menu lacking in choices and expected more from the Hilton in NYC but that was not the case. Both my rooms were clean and the maids were very nice and helpful whenever I needed anything. The elevators were slow but a huge conference was going on in the hotel and that was the cause of so much elevator congestion and wait time.

I would recommend this hotel for families and those who are visitng the Big Apple for the first time. Pets are allowed, fitness facilities and a pool are on site. It's in a great location with good service.
