Fun Find- Putumayo's Hawaiian Playground

This CD by Putumayo could not have come at a better time. The winter blues were just setting in at our house. The gray sky, snow on the ground and icy winds were beginning to make me wonder if we would ever see sun and spring. Then Hawaiian Playground arrived at our front door and the sounds of slide guitars and ukuleles filled our home.

There is energy, sun and Polynesian heritage in this family-friendly compilation of music (releases Jan. 22). I love the songs and so does my daughter, in particular the 'The Cockeyed Mayor of Kaunakakai' by Teresa Bright. This CD makes me want to visit Hawaii all over again and it somehow feels sunnier and happier in our house when we play it. The cover art is beautiful and fun. What is also great is that a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Hawaiian Playground go towards PACT Hawaii (Parents and Children Together) which promotes and helps healthy individuals, families and communities. It's a bargain at $14.98. You can order it and listen to samples directly from Putumayo or from Amazon.
