Daddy Dates

There are three little girls in our house. There is but one Dad. Daddy as he is called most days sometimes looks at me completely flummoxed as to what these three little ones need and want from him. Daddy Dates ($16.99) by Greg Wright is a short, sweet and simple book that doesn't offer advice to men but definitely tips and insight on his journey to getting to know his girls.

Daddy Dates is such a gem. I love picking it up and pulling out small tidbits of information to give to my husband. In turn, he is able to read this book quickly and find real ways to connect and work with our girls. It's a fun read that offers so much to fathers about the sometimes easy and sometimes puzzling ways their daughters behave. I found the piece about dating to be so true to the advice my father gave me about boys back in the day. Advice that served me well and proved to be quite true.

It's an easy thing to say that any father with a daughter should read this book. But, the truth is, that any many should read this book to remind themselves how important and different the women in our lives are and how we should treat them. It made me laugh, think and further appreciate how awesome it is to be a dad. --C.C. Chapman , Co-Author of CONTENT RULES and Founder of DigitalDads.com

Delicious Deal: 10% Off Harry & David Gifts for Dad

I don’t know about your dad, but mine has a killer sweet tooth. He’s a sucker for frozen yogurt, ice cream, chocolate covered nuts, delicious fruit and other yummy treats. The man has everything and every year I struggle when deciding what to get him for Father’s Day (which is coming up quickly)! If he wants it, he buys it. Something that he can never get sick of and something for which he can never get sick of buying are his favorite snacks!

If you’ve ever received a Harry and David gift basket, you know how awesomely succulent their fruit is and the variety of goods they offer. Walking into a Harry and David might seem overwhelming at first as there are so many options. If you are the type that would rather put a custom touch to your gifts, I suggest selecting your dad’s favorite items and having one of their friendly customer service reps create the perfect gift basket. Not only does Harry and David have fruit, chocolate and snacks, but they also carry wine, pasta noodles (sometimes in holiday shapes), pasta sauce, cheese cakes and even floral arrangements.

They online site allows you to select a pre-made gift basket or tower which might be a better option for those who’d rather shop from the convenience of their sofa. Their Father’s Day section has some great finds. I think my dad would like something like this Great Expectations Double Discovery Gift for $59.95.

If you use this Harry and David coupon code for 10% off select Father’s Day gifts, you will save $6 on this particular gift which should knock out some of the shipping costs. Go to HarryandDavid.com before Sunday, June 19th to take advantage of the coupon and check out the other great gift baskets and goodies available.

Fun, Frugal Father's Day Tips

My husband has asked for a grill for Father's Day. Not the most frugal of gifts however our $99 Walmart grill has lasted us eight years and I think we got our money's worth. It's survived four moves too. It's the little grill that could. In addition to that less than frugal of purchase my original plan was to do this for Father's Day.

1. Let Dad sleep in. We trade off most weekends but he'll get some extra sleep time that weekend. Sleep is free!

2. Make Dad his favorite dinner and/or breakfast and/or dessert. This is something the kids can get in on too and it's a real treat and economical too. As long as Dad's fave food isn't beef wellington or shark fin soup.

3. The kids will make the card. It's fun for them, keeps them busy and makes them proud. It also saves me about $6.

We also might take advantage of our community's free pool access or take a walk on some of the trails near our home. All of it is fun, free and allows us some good quality family time. Letting Dad nap without being bothered or watch a ball game is always a good bet too.

If that isn't for you then check out Family Fun. It's creative and affordable. There are recipes, gift ideas and lots of activities that will keep you in your budget. I love the Tidy Trunk Tote idea and just might use it myself. My husband hauls tons of bit and pieces around in his car and there needs to be some organization!

Join in with your own tips and I'll post them!

Fun Find- Sail the South Seas

In a stump about what to get for dear old Dad this Father's Day, June 15? Think that the idea of dousing him with cologne is a bad idea? Not so. Try the Set Sail the South Seas cologne by Tommy Bahama, which is a relaxing scent that brings to mind the water and a pleasing citrus air.

My husband, NEVER wears cologne. It is just not him. I have bought him all types through the years and usually in small bottles because I already know that it is going to just sit on his dresser or in his bathroom cabinet and go to waste. He smirked a bit when I presented him with the 3.4 ounce bottle ($52.50) from Tommy Bahama. Not another bottle he groaned. Then he spritzed the air with it and the next thing I knew our bedroom had a slightly sea tinged note to it too with a hint of rum and violets that makes it not just a bit woodsy but also completely masculine yet tropical. He began raving about how he liked the rope on the bottle and the whole shape and coloring to its design. This is the same man? Ever since he has worn it and while I love his natural scent it is quite nice to have a bit of a change. I like the packaging, even if it seemed a bit girly at first, and the scent lasts a while. I'm quite pleased with it as a whole.

This fine fragrance can yours at the following department stores this Father's Day too- Macy's and Tommy Bahama.

ONE lucky reader will win a bottle for themselves or for the man in their life. Just comment below and answer this question: Is there another product made in the Set Sail the South Seas scent? Don't forget your email so I can contact the winner!
Congrats to Sarah in MD for winning the Set Sails South Seas contest!!!
